Breathlessness
Breathlessness is a common symptom that often occurs in more severe cases of acute bronchitis and when chronic bronchitis becomes aggravated. It is often preceded by exertion and incessant coughing spells. To alleviate breathlessness, doctors typically recommend the use of inhaled bronchodilators. These medications work by clearing the airways and allowing a sufficient supply of oxygen to reach the lungs. For individuals with severe bronchial disease, it is essential to always keep an inhaler nearby for immediate relief.
Low-Grade Fever
When individuals, particularly children, have bronchitis, they may experience a low-grade fever. The development of this symptom is common in cases of acute bronchitis, which is typically caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Treatment options for this symptom include the use of antibiotics (in cases where the bronchitis is caused by a bacterial infection) and painkillers. However, if the person’s temperature exceeds 102°F, it is important to seek medical attention to rule out the possibility of other conditions such as pneumonia.
