Urinary Retention
Urinary retention can be a symptom of bladder cancer, where the individual experiences difficulty in urinating. This condition is characterized by an inability to urinate when there is an urge, trouble initiating a urine stream, interrupted urination, and straining while trying to empty the bladder. Additionally, a person may feel the need to urinate immediately after emptying the bladder. The presence of a tumor obstructing the urinary tract or the formation of blood clots in the bladder often leads to urinary retention.
Pelvic Mass: An Indicator of Advanced Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer is a condition that often goes unnoticed in its early stages. Neither the individual affected by the disease nor a medical professional can typically feel a tumor in the bladder during this initial phase. However, as the cancer progresses, a doctor may be able to locate a palpable mass in the pelvis. The presence of this mass is an indication that the tumor has advanced, with the cancerous cells invading the deeper layers of the bladder walls. In addition, a palpable mass may suggest that the cancer has started to spread or metastasize to other parts of the body.
