10 Symptoms of Ringworm

Ringworm on the Face: Tinea Faciei

When ringworm affects the face and causes an infection known as tinea faciei, it typically manifests as circular rashes. However, unlike rashes found on other parts of the body, these blemishes are often photosensitive. This means that they can become more red and irritated after exposure to sunlight or other forms of UV radiation. Additionally, these rashes may feel moist or exhibit noticeable crusting.

Scalp Ringworm: A Rare Condition in Adults

While scalp ringworm is relatively uncommon in adults, it is a fungal infection that primarily affects toddlers and young children. Known as tinea capitis, this condition presents itself as itchy patches on the scalp, rather than the typical circular rash seen in other forms of ringworm. These patches may appear red, yellow, or silver in color and often have a flaky texture, leading parents to initially mistake them for dandruff.
