10 Symptoms of Ringworm

Jock Itch: An Unpleasant and Itchy Infection

Jock itch, scientifically known as tinea cruris, is a fungal infection that shares the same culprit as ringworm. This pesky infection primarily affects the skin folds around the genitals, thighs, buttocks, and stomach. When infected with tinea cruris, individuals often experience raised, scaly, and reddish-brown rashes that can be incredibly itchy and uncomfortable.

Common Nail Problems

When it comes to nail issues, one common problem is the infection caused by the ringworm fungus. While it can affect both fingernails and toenails, the latter is more commonly affected. This infection, also known as tinea unguium or onychomycosis, poses a challenge in terms of treatment. Its symptoms include discoloration, thickening, and brittleness of the nails. In severe cases, the nails may even separate from the nailbed and ultimately fall off.
