Causes of Adrenal Fatigue
Adrenal fatigue is believed to occur when the adrenal glands are unable to meet the body’s demands. Various factors can contribute to this condition, including frequent illness or infection, physical stress caused by inadequate nutrition or an injury, emotional or mental stress, and exposure to environmental factors such as chemicals or pollutants. While the adrenal glands may still function during these circumstances, they are unable to operate at the necessary level to sustain optimal body function.
Diagnosis of Adrenal Fatigue
Obtaining a diagnosis for adrenal fatigue can be challenging due to the lack of support from most doctors regarding its existence as a medical condition. One method that is sometimes used to measure adrenal hormone levels is a simple test that involves analyzing saliva samples. However, this test is not commonly administered since it is not widely endorsed by the medical community. Additionally, the reliability of the results may be questionable, as cortisol and other hormone levels tend to vary throughout the day.
