10 Symptoms of Depression

Irritability: A Common Symptom of Depression

Depression can manifest in various ways, and one common symptom is irritability. Individuals with depression may find themselves becoming increasingly intolerant of the behavior of others. The daily challenges they face can make it frustrating to witness acquaintances seemingly effortlessly managing their lives. This frustration can lead to heightened sensitivity to perceived slights, causing emotional outbursts when they feel slighted. It is believed that repressed anger and an inability to cope with inner rage in a healthy manner can contribute to the development of depression.

Anxiety and Depression: The Connection

Anxiety often goes hand in hand with depression, as individuals with depression may become fixated on their perceived flaws and shortcomings, fueling feelings of anxiety. This can manifest in various ways, including experiencing unexplained physical discomfort, constant fatigue, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating, and other symptoms that may mimic a physical illness. Interestingly, for some individuals, receiving a diagnosis of depression or another mental health disorder can provide relief as it offers an explanation for their distress.
