Incarcerated Hernia
While a gastroesophageal hernia can be a significant problem, an incarcerated hernia is actually an emergency that needs immediate medical attention. This hernia has all the symptoms of the previous hernia, but it entirely cuts off blood to the area. Minor symptoms include difficulty belching and swallowing. Severe symptoms quickly follow such as black stool, vomiting food and even vomiting blood. A hole may even form near the side of your stomach in more severe cases. This opening leads to many concerns such as fever, severe stomach discomfort, lightheadedness and nausea.
