10 Symptoms of an Intestinal Obstruction

4. Loss of Appetite

A loss of appetite combined with any of these other symptoms may be a tell-tale sign that you have a blockage. When your body isn’t passing its waste through, your entire digestive system becomes backed up. Those stomach acids aren’t churning and making things ready to devour some food that comes in. This throws your entire body out of whack, and you end up not feeling hungry at all. If this is accompanied by constipation or bloating, then it’s pretty safe to say you have an obstruction.

5. Not Passing Gas

Above we spoke about how gas can still pass through a blockage. Well, sometimes the blockage is so complete that not even gas gets through. This is one of those symptoms where you just know something’s wrong. Unlike some of the other symptoms, that could happen for a slew of different reasons, gas being blocked off mostly likely means you have a pretty complete obstruction up there, that not even gas (which is basically air) can get through. This would require immediate attention.
