Hair Loss in Lupus Patients
One of the common symptoms experienced by individuals with lupus is hair loss. This condition is characterized by an unprecedented shedding of hair, which is primarily caused by inflammation of the scalp. Interestingly, hair thinning may not be limited to the head alone, as other areas such as eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, and arms may also be affected.
The hair loss experienced by lupus patients may manifest in various ways. While some individuals may notice their hair shedding in tufts, others may experience a gradual reduction in hair volume over time. Fortunately, timely treatment of lupus can often lead to hair re-growth. However, it is important to note that if lesions appear on the scalp, hair may not be able to regrow in the scarred areas.

One of the more severe manifestations of lupus is the occurrence of pulmonary inflammation, which can affect either the lining or the lungs themselves. This inflammation can also extend to the diaphragm, leading to chest pains and a sense of breathlessness, particularly during deep breathing.
