Headache, Dizziness, and Light-headedness: Allergy Symptoms
Allergies trigger inflammation in the body, which can manifest as various symptoms, including headaches and dizziness. The inflammatory response can affect the head, leading to throbbing headaches or even migraines. Histamine, released during an allergic reaction, can have hidden effects, such as vasodilation in the brain, causing discomfort and pain.
In addition to headaches, allergies can also cause dizziness and light-headedness. This can be a result of histamine release, which can lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure. The decrease in blood pressure can cause feelings of dizziness and a sensation of being light-headed.
Anaphylaxis
Anaphylaxis is a severe and sudden allergic reaction that is considered a medical emergency. It can manifest with various symptoms, including those mentioned earlier, such as a sudden drop in blood pressure, vomiting, shortness of breath, and swelling of the tongue and throat.
The drop in blood pressure during an anaphylactic reaction is often caused by the release of large amounts of chemicals, such as histamine, in the body. This causes the blood vessels to dilate, leading to a decrease in blood pressure. Consequently, one may experience symptoms like dizziness, blurred vision, fainting, nausea, confusion, and rapid breathing. Treatment for an anaphylactic reaction typically involves the immediate administration of epinephrine. This medication helps to raise blood pressure and alleviate other allergic symptoms, including throat swelling.
