Valley Fever and its Associated Rashes
Valley fever is often accompanied by a distinctive symptom known as erythema nodosum, which manifests as red and spotty rashes primarily on the lower legs. This condition occurs due to inflammation of the fat cells beneath the skin. In some rare cases, erythema nodosum may also affect other areas such as the chest, back, and arms.
Respiratory Problems Associated with Valley Fever
When a valley fever infection does not completely resolve, it can progress into a chronic type of pneumonia, leading to more severe respiratory issues. These respiratory problems are an exacerbation of the symptoms observed in the acute phase of the infection. Individuals may experience a sore throat caused by persistent coughing and other symptoms, which can make it challenging to eat and ultimately result in weight loss. Additionally, chest pain is a common symptom in this stage of the infection.
