Symptoms and Complications of Valley Fever

Bloody Sputum: Causes and Symptoms

When fighting off an infection, it is common to experience coughing up mucus. This mucus, known as sputum, typically forms in the lower airways. However, if you notice blood in your sputum, it could be an indication of inflammation in the larynx, trachea, or bronchi. In some cases, the presence of blood may be due to small tears or injuries in the lower airways that cause bleeding into the sputum.

Nodules and Lesions: Advanced Symptoms of Infection

As the infection progresses, the symptoms become more severe. One of the advanced symptoms is the development of large nodules and lesions on the skin. These nodules are not only painful but also have a distinct fluid-filled appearance. Additionally, nodules may also form in the lungs. Although pulmonary nodules typically do not cause any noticeable symptoms, their presence can assist doctors in diagnosing the infection.
