Causes of Stomach Pain

Allergies

When it comes to allergies, particularly food allergies, the body’s immune response can cause stomach pain. It’s important to note that even a small amount of the problematic food can trigger symptoms ranging from mild to severe, once the offending ingredient reaches the intestines. This triggers the release of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies and histamine into the gastrointestinal tract. The presence of histamine in the digestive system can irritate it, ultimately leading to stomach cramps and pain. In addition to stomach pain, food allergies can also manifest with other symptoms such as itching, skin rash, difficulty breathing, and chest pain.

Understanding Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a medical condition characterized by the presence of endometrial lesions near the uterus. Women who suffer from this condition often experience intense abdominal pain during their menstrual periods. However, the pain associated with endometriosis can also occur at other times. One common symptom is a condition known as “endo belly,” which causes severe bloating and exerts painful pressure on the back and abdomen. This discomfort can persist for several hours to even weeks at a time.
