All About the Ulna

Function

The ulna, despite being thinner and weaker than the radius, plays a crucial role in the functioning of the forearm. Its primary function is to support the radius during rotational movements. While the elbow joint allows for flexion and extension (bending and straightening), the ulna and radius work together to enable precise actions like turning handles, using tools, lifting objects, and typing.

Muscles

The ulna plays a crucial role in providing attachment points for the muscles in the forearm. Most of these muscles connect to the ulnar shaft’s surfaces, while a few also attach to the different processes.
