Are You a Secretor or Non-Secretor?
In D’Adamo’s theory on blood type diets, a key concept revolves around the distinction between secretors and non-secretors. According to D’Adamo, secretors are individuals whose blood type is secreted into various areas of the body, including the mucous glands, saliva, and respiratory cavities. On the other hand, non-secretors do not transmit their blood type in the same way. D’Adamo asserts that approximately 80 percent of the population can be classified as secretors.
Effects of Fatty Foods on Digestion
According to D’Adamo’s blood type diet theory, the consumption of specific types of fats can have varying effects on digestion. While some diets emphasize the inclusion of “good fats,” others advocate for the elimination of fats altogether. D’Adamo suggests that your blood type plays a significant role in determining the production of intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), a crucial enzyme responsible for the breakdown and absorption of fat. His research findings suggest that individuals with blood types O and B may have three to five times higher levels of IAP compared to the average person.
