Aplastic anemia is a condition that occurs when the bone marrow suffers damage, leading to a disruption or complete halt in the production of red blood cells. The bone marrow is responsible for generating blood cells, including red blood cells. However, when this production process is impaired, it results in a deficiency. Fortunately, there are various treatment options available to manage aplastic anemia, including medications, blood transfusions, and stem cell transplants.

Various serious blood disorders, including certain types of cancers, can result in decreased levels of hemoglobin. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy, for instance, are two treatment modalities that often cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels.
