HIV, once considered the most prevalent preventable and treatable cause of cognitive impairment in individuals under 50, has seen significant improvements in memory loss symptoms with the advent of combination antiretroviral therapy. Recent studies reveal that approximately five percent of individuals with HIV who have access to this therapy experience HIV-associated dementia, and it appears that the severity of symptoms may increase with age.
