Symptoms and Treatments of Intussusception

5. Symptom: Abdominal mass

One of the symptoms of severe cases or complete intestinal obstruction is the presence of an abdominal mass. This mass may become more apparent during pain-free moments, when the infant or young child is not tensing their muscles or pulling their knees towards their chest.

6. Symptom: Elevated Body Temperature

Although fever is not directly associated with intussusception, it is a sign of an underlying infection within the body. In cases where the bowel has experienced necrosis (tissue death), it can potentially result in bowel perforation, leading to infection and sepsis.
