Symptoms of Allergies and Allergic Reactions

Understanding Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as red or pink eye, can occur due to either an infection or an allergic reaction. This condition typically affects both eyes, leading to symptoms such as redness, irritation, and itching. In some cases, the eyes may also produce excessive pus and tear up profusely. It is important to note that allergic conjunctivitis is not contagious and can often be managed without a prescription. Conversely, infectious conjunctivitis typically requires treatment with antibiotics and may necessitate a period of isolation.

Allergic Asthma: Recognizing the Symptoms

When you hear wheezing and coughing, it might be a sign of allergic asthma. Along with these symptoms, individuals with allergic asthma may also feel tightness in their chest and have difficulty catching their breath. In addition to these respiratory issues, they may also suffer from a runny nose, sinus congestion, and frequent sneezing. It’s important to note that while regular asthma can be triggered by the common cold or flu, allergic asthma is a separate condition that is specifically related to allergies.
