Leishmaniasis: A Deadly Disease Carried by Sandflies
Leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease, is primarily transmitted by more than 90 species of sandflies. There are three major types of leishmaniasis: visceral, cutaneous, and mucocutaneous. Out of these, cutaneous leishmaniasis is the most prevalent form of the disease. However, untreated visceral leishmaniasis is incredibly dangerous, leading to a fatal outcome in 95% of cases.

This disease is prevalent in Asian and Latin American countries and has been responsible for numerous hospitalizations and fatalities, affecting both children and adults.
