What is Clubfoot? Treatments and Symptoms

Limping in Older Age

Clubfoot can result in significant weakness in one leg compared to the other, leading to an imbalance in leg-related movements. As a person ages, this can eventually cause a noticeable limp. Unfortunately, there is a small percentage of cases where individuals do not receive adequate treatment for their clubfoot. If the condition is not addressed early on, it can worsen over time, making it even more difficult to correct, especially if the initial treatment in infancy was not performed correctly.

Sleep Troubles in Babies with Clubfoot

When babies have clubfoot, their muscles and joints are often under tension, which can lead to discomfort and pain. Young children are particularly sensitive to pain, even if it is not severe. As a result, the pain caused by clubfoot can cause sleep disturbances, keeping the baby awake throughout the night. This can happen even in cases where the clubfoot defect is less apparent. If you notice that your child is crying excessively, it is advisable to consult a pediatrician for further evaluation and guidance.
