Eating Vegetables on the SIBO Diet
When following the SIBO diet, you have a variety of vegetables to choose from that are considered safe to consume. These vegetables can be added to your meals without worrying about triggering any flare-ups. Some examples of these green-lighted vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, squash, pumpkin, celery, kale, red peppers, okra, bok choy, brussels sprouts, romaine lettuce, baby spinach, and collard greens.
However, it is important to be cautious with certain vegetables that may potentially cause flare-ups. SIBO experts recommend limiting or even eliminating the consumption of vegetables such as garlic, cauliflower, black beans, shallots, cassava, butter beans, and asparagus.
Meat, Poultry, and Seafood
When it comes to meat, poultry, and seafood, SIBO dieters have a wide range of options to choose from. You can incorporate salmon, trout, tuna, beef, chicken, turkey, and pork into your diet without any restrictions. Even popular cold cuts like ham and turkey are allowed, although it’s important to carefully check the ingredients. Additionally, you can enjoy delicacies such as prosciutto, shrimp, and prawns. However, it’s advisable to steer clear of sausages, as they may be difficult to digest.
