10 Causes of Hip Pain

Hip pain can affect adolescents and adults. If your hip joint is damaged, it could affect the inside of your hip and your groin. If you feel pain on your upper thigh, buttocks, or the outside of your hip, this likely means you are dealing with a problem affecting your soft tissue, muscles, tendons, or ligaments. It is possible that conditions affecting your lower back or the surrounding nerves can be causing your hip pain. Here are the most common reasons people experience hip pain.

1. Hip Fracture

If you fracture your hip, you are dealing with a severe injury that is potentially life-threatening. The older you get, the greater your chances are of fracturing your hip. In most cases, a hip fracture will require repair or replacement. Physical therapy may be able to help you regain your mobility. Hip fractures primarily affect women. However, men over 65 years of age have an increased risk of hip fractures. Younger individuals who live active lives or have professions that put a lot of strain on their bodies may fracture their hip. It starts with small and almost imperceptible cracks in the bone. With time, this damage caused by repeated high-impact activity worsens. Fractured hip pain is typically felt in the groin or anterior hip.
