10 Causes of Hip Pain

8. Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis

Also referred to as SCFE, this is a rare condition that happens in the hips of adolescents. The head of the femur separates from the main part of the hip joint by slipping backward. This leads to a fracture in the growth plate. The primary symptom of this condition is hip pain. It is typically seen in the left hip as opposed to the right. Overweight male adolescents have a higher occurrence of SCFE. Decreased range of hip motion, intermittent limp, knee pain, and outwardly turned legs are other symptoms of this condition.

9. Meralgia Parasthetica

The compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve can lead to meralgia parasthetica. You may experience numbness, burning, and tingling in the lateral thigh and hip. The longer you walk or the longer you stand, the more intense the pain can become. Repetitive motions, weight gain, wearing tool belts, or recent injuries can lead to nerve entrapment. People with diabetes are more often affected than the general population. Sitting can relieve the pain.
