Peppermint contains menthol, an active compound that serves as a numbing agent. It also has antimicrobial ingredients that can eliminate bacteria causing toothaches. You can add a teaspoon of dried peppermint to warm water and wait for 20 minutes. Swish the peppermint drink and spit it out. Alternatively, you can dip a peppermint tea bag in warm water. Place the tea bag on the affected tooth for 20 minutes.
