10 Signs of Asperger Syndrome

Frequent Overstimulation

Social situations are often overly stimulating for those with Asperger’s. Interacting with other people is typically a stressful process for them, and they might display these emotions by laughing, crying, or even having an outburst when they are feeling overwhelmed. This stress and overstimulation might make those with Asperger syndrome hesitant to meet and engage with other people.

Poor Eye Contact

Inability to maintain eye contact is one of the earlier signs that can appear if Asperger’s is present. Eye contact is generally difficult for those with Asperger syndrome because they cannot naturally identify social cues. Lack of eye contact also makes it even harder for them to pick up on nonverbal signs from other people during social interactions.
