10 Symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome

2. Impaired Social Skills

Underdeveloped or impaired social skills are quite common among people with Asperger’s. The majority of the condition’s symptoms touch upon social elements in one way or another. Someone with Asperger’s will often find it difficult to understand what their peers are trying to express. This often results in the afflicted individuals making friends with people who are considerably older or younger. At the same time, this difficulty communicating with people often makes it hard for people with Asperger’s syndrome to meet or befriend new people. They often feel like they’re trying to learn a new language every time they need to meet a new person for the first time.

3. Odd Gaits or Clumsiness

People with Asperger’s syndrome often have unique or unexpected ways of moving. The average person doesn’t think about their movement very much. As with body language, someone with Asperger’s syndrome often needs to learn things that everyone else takes for granted. As a result, they often walk with stilted gaits, lack of coordination, or generally show signs of clumsiness. People often mistake the individual’s missteps as lack of attention. However, someone with Asperger’s syndrome often puts a great amount of care and attention into their interactions with the world. Their condition simply makes it difficult to maneuver their way through an environment.
