10 Symptoms of Bladder Cancer

Pain During Urination

Pain during urination, known as dysuria, is another common symptom of bladder cancer. Dysuria doesn’t clear with time and only gets worse the more you ignore it. If you have bladder cancer, you may feel pain in the penis, pelvis, and prostate. Pain while urinating can point to other conditions. However, if the pain doesn’t clear after a few days, you should see a doctor.

Urge To Urinate Frequently

The urge to pass out urine after every few minutes is a common symptom for so many conditions. Some of these conditions include diabetes, pregnancy, urinary tract infections, enlarged prostate, and other health conditions that affect the kidneys and the bladder. Bladder cancer can also cause the symptom. The cancerous cells that grow on the lining of the bladder reduce the volume of the bladder. This sends a signal to the brain that the bladder is full even when there is only a little urine in the bladder. The cancer cells also cause irritation on the bladder walls, which may cause it to pass out urine frequently. In some cases, patients experience urine retention where they are unable to completely empty their bladder.
