Baby’s Movement Milestones

Nine Months: Baby Development Milestones

By the time your baby reaches nine months of age, it is expected that they will start attempting to stand while holding on to something. They should be able to prop themselves up into a sitting position independently and sit without any support. It’s also common for babies at this age to pull themselves up to a standing position. Additionally, don’t be surprised if you find your little one crawling or scooting around as they explore their newfound mobility.

Development at 12 Months

By the time your child reaches their first birthday, they will have achieved significant milestones in their physical and cognitive development. At this stage, they will be able to pull themselves up to stand and maintain their balance without any support. They may even try taking a few steps while holding onto a larger person or furniture for stability. Some adventurous toddlers may even attempt to take a few steps independently.

At this age, your one-year-old will also start to engage in more refined fine motor activities. They will enjoy the challenge of taking objects out of containers and putting them back in, enhancing their hand-eye coordination skills. Their pincer grasp, which allows them to pick up small objects between their thumb and forefinger, will continue to improve. You may also notice your child attempting to scribble, as they explore their newfound control over their hand movements.
