Cereal

Any product, such as cereal, that is made from oats, wheat, or other grains contains a lot of carbohydrates. Usually, sugar cereals have little fiber and cause a blood sugar spike followed by the inevitable crash. With little fiber content, regular corn flakes have around 24.3 grams of carbohydrates with 1.8 grams being sugar. Frosted flakes are very high with carbohydrates at 35.4 grams with 15 grams being sugars. When possible, select cereals that are whole-grain that have some fiber with the least amount of sugar.

Pasta

Typical pasta when cooked is 81 percent carbohydrates, 5 percent fats, and 14 percent protein. One cup of pasta contains 42.8 grams of carbs and 2.5 grams consisting of fiber with the remainder being starch. Although whole-wheat pasta has similar carb ratios due to higher fiber content metabolizes much slower resulting in healthier intestinal processes.
