10 Symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome

6. High Level of Interest in a Few Things

People with Asperger’s syndrome tend to have an obsessive interest in a few specific things. Sometimes these interests do coincide with what’s seen in their peer group. But even then the sheer intensity of study often shocks people. For example, someone with Asperger’s syndrome might be extremely interested in football. This is a fairly common interest and nothing too exceptional in and of itself. However, the individual with Asperger’s syndrome will tend to obsess to the point where he’ll memorize football stats that go back years or even decades.

7. Unpredictable Behaviour

People with Asperger’s syndrome often feel that everyone else is unpredictable. This is in large part due to the fact that people with autism tend to have a very different way of looking at and interacting with the world. The opposite situation is quite common as well. Someone who doesn’t have Asperger’s syndrome will often think that someone who does have it is unpredictable and strange. However, both individuals will typically find that they’re both acting logically within the context of different worldviews.
